Join us for the 5th Annual Holiday 5K at Old Fort NiagaraThis beautiful and scenic 5K run will take place on December 19, 2020. Soldiers will fire their muskets at 11:00am sharp to signal the start of the race which will take place entirely within Fort Niagara State Park. The USATF Certified Course features amazing views of Fort Niagara State Park; the Lower Niagara River; Lake Ontario; Niagara-on-the-Lake, Canada; Historic Old Fort Niagara, and the Toronto skyline! All participants who register prior to 11/15/20 will recieve one of our beautiful custom finisher medals AND a newly commissioned Holiday 5K race shirt! Those who register on or after 11/15/20 will receive the t-shirt only. Register early to secure a spot AND your keepsake finisher medal! 

9:30-11:00 Race Day Registration & Packet Pickup

During the pandemic we will be checking runners in for the race using our convenient drive-thru, touch free service in the main parking lot along the beach. Runners will stay in their vehicles while our staff safely hands you your race bib, timing chip, t-shirt, finisher medal, etc. Bottled water and food will be distributed (grab & go) at the finish line after the race.

5K Registration Fee ............ $30/$35 after 11/1/20

At this point we are planning to limit the race to 250 participants (5 waves of 50 runners with individual start times assigned to each participant).

Mail-in Registration Option
If you prefer to mail in your registration, please download both the race waiver and appropriate USATF liability waiver below and mail to the address shown. You must complete and mail BOTH waivers to the address shown on the waiver along with your check payable to iRunWNY. Paper applications must be received by 12-17-20 at 4pm.

NEW: Virtual Registration Option
Can't make the race... Participate virtually! Simply sign up for the 5K Virtual Race prior to November 15th. You choose the location and time to get out on your own and run/walk 5K between 11/15/20 and 12/19/20. Feel free to use the FREE IYR Virtual App to track and score your run. You will also be able to manually enter your finish time directly to the IYR Results Page starting on 11/15 and ending on 12/31. We'll mail out your shirt and custom finisher medal before Christmas!

11:00 Official 5K Start Time
The race will start and finish inside Fort Niagara State Park. The finish line will be located adjacent to the historic cemetery near the lighthouse next to Historic Old Fort Niagara and holiday music will sound throughout the finish line area throughout the race!

11:30-1:00 Post Race Celebration
During the pandemic there will not be a post race party (no tent will be setup) however the park will open to the public. We cannot congregate in groups of 50 people or more at any time. Spread out before and after the race and follow all social distancing guidelines. Runners will enjoy a delicious grab & go food snack prepared by the Rickard family. Registered participants are welcome to bring adult beverages to the park for personal consumption on your own (Note: you must me 21 or older to consume alcohol).

The race will start at 11:00am. The finish line will be located adjacent to the old cemetery at Historic Old Fort Niagara near the lighthouse.

There will be plenty of free parking in the main parking lot at Fort Niagara Beach. Participants are NOT ALLOWED to park in the small lot at Old Fort Niagara at any point as there will be tour buses coming in and out and we do not want to disrupt the flow of traffic of visitors to the Old Fort. Thanks for your cooperation!

Trophies will be presented to the 1st place overall male and female finishers and beautiful custom finisher medals will be provided to all participants who registered prior to November 15th! Custom finisher certificates showing race stats and age groups can be downloaded and printed after the race via the RESULTS button at the top of this page.

14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69. 70-74, 75-79, 80 and older.

There will be no refunds. In the event of foul weather, public safety concerns, or for any other reason deemed necessary by race organizers (ex: state of emergency, etc), we reserve the right to postpone/reschedule the event at our discretion or offer a virtual alternative if necessary. 

Individual chip start/chip finish timing services using industry leading Jaguar Electronic RFID timing will be provided by Race Management Solutions. Results are updated throughout the race in real time and can be accessed at any time after crossing the finish line using any one of the following options:

2020 Finisher Medal

All participants who register prior to November 15th will receive a beautiful custom finisher medal to commemorate their race at Old Fort Niagara. The 2020 finisher medal is being designed by Ashworth Awards and is inspired by Robert Griffing's famous painting Departure at Daybreak. In this painting, mist rises from the Niagara River as the early morning sun greets four Ottawa canoes gliding swiftly across the still waters from Fort Niagara in the autumn of 1769.
